Shortcut’s reasoning.

The FPL, NextEra Energy Resources and Corporate earnings build produces adjusted diluted EPS of $1.1778 versus the Street’s $1.18. The small difference is visible at full precision.

The model forecasts $8.24bn in revenue. It assumes new base rates offset the FPL storm-surcharge roll-off. Operating-income detail and residual GAAP tax are separate illustrative calculations, not independent validation of adjusted EPS.

Model assumptions and review notes
  • Adjusted EPS is built from FPL, NextEra Energy Resources and Corporate adjusted earnings. GAAP operating income and margin are separate bottom-up memos; residual GAAP tax reconciles to top-down net income, rather than validating those operating metrics.
  • FPL assumes new base rates offset the storm surcharge roll-off while storm amortization is removed. Without that offset, tracked revenue and operating income could be lower by up to$386m; reserve-amortization assumptions remain source-limited. The segment-built adjusted EPS is not derived from those operating-income memos.
  • Debt issuance is a net plug, customer averages use a midpoint convention, and some historic shares are derived. Minor note/zero-format/shrink-to-fit issues remain. The four annual derived FPL flows were corrected to quarter sums without changing the scored EPS calculation.
